I just did the numbers on the first part of the trip, from London to Scotland to Melbourne:
Transportation:
Buses: 19 in order to travel great distances, not counting those needed to go to the Great Wall of inside a city. Count 8 nights of sleep aboard them.
Trains: 23, including 14 nights of sleep aboard them.
Cars: only two, and both in France. Scratch that: eleven if you count nine from hitchhicking.
Motocycles: No real travelling, only to go get a beer.
Flights: two, from Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur and KL to Melbourne. Could not get a...
Ships: four. All relatively good experiences. Two nights on board, great sceneries on Venice to Patras.
Accomodations:
Nights in Hostels: 24, most of them a good experience. Italy is very expensive by the way. China: not so much, especially Xian (3$ a night in a great place).
Nights with couchsurfing: 18, again I gave them all a good reference because they where all nice and welcoming.
Nice at friend's place: 32. Noting to say other than I have great friends who did take care of me. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to return the favor. Thanks to all of you!
Total days of travelling: 102.
Distance: around 30 000 km?
Most common food: ramen noodles.
Most common drink: bottled water (I feel dirty).
Number of fights: zero, I'm not stupid enough.
XP gained: a lot.
Thanks for reading,
Renaud
